Antique Turkish Taspinar
village rug. Made in a town on the
central Anatolian plateau just south of Aksaray, that has a long-standing tradition
of making very fine rugs, of which this rug is an excellent early example. The
rug has very soft wool and is beautifully drawn with superb colours throughout.
The border is of particular note and contrasts well with the brighter colours
of the field design.
The rug is in excellent condition and has a good pile. The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. Circa 1940.
